  • The examples above showed just the one or two constraints that were being focused on. However, in order to properly place myViewin my test project I needed to have four constraints.

Basically it involved 3 steps

The problem, as the error message suggests, is that you have constraints of type NSAutoresizingMaskLayoutConstraintsthat conflict with your explicit constraints, because new_view.translatesAutoresizingMaskIntoConstraintsis set to true.

Note that using autoresizing is perfectly legitimate even when you're also using autolayout. (UIKit still uses autoresizing in lots of places internally.) The problem is that it's difficult to apply additional constraints to a view that is using autoresizing.
