Spring Boot changing datasource to point to a mysql database

What is @springbootapplication and how does it load the datasource? How may i change the datasourcefrom default database to another. If i simply add the properties file it does not establish the connection with mysqlstill?

I am sorry that I had to ask this question. But now I have found out the reason.

Basically, I read in the tutorial on spring.io that I have to put properties file in the resources folder. So I just made a resources folder under src folder and put my properties file there.
