Configure xampp server httpd.conf

phpapache.htaccessmod-rewrite

提问by vahed

I'm reading a book to learning CMS creation.

in this book, the author wants to teach us how to use mod_rewrite...

There is this code for .htaccessin root folder :

我正在读一本书来学习 CMS 创建。

在这本书中,作者想教我们如何使用mod_rewrite...... 根文件夹中

有这段代码.htaccess

<IfModule mod_deflate.c>
    SetOutputFilter DEFLATE
</IfModule>

php_flag magic_quotes_gpc off

RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^([^./]{3}[^.]*)$ /index.php?page= [QSA,L]

and there's an index.phpfile that dump $_POSTand $_GETsuper global vars.

When I write an address like http://localhost/SomeTextI expect to redirect to index.phpand $_GEThave to show

GET :
array(1) {
    ["page"] =>
    string(8) "SomeText"
}

BUT, when I write the address in browser address bar, I'll redirect to xampp home page

It seems there's something in httpd.conffile that I have to change and as I'm pretty new in this, I can't do the right stuff. I searched for a while in stackoverflow but couldn't find the answer, would you let me know what's wrong in this situation?

UPDATE :
I added these line to httpd.confand when I want to prevent access to some folders, everything is O.K.

<Directory "C:/xampp/htdocs/CMS">
    Options All
    AllowOverride All
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
</Directory>

and mod_rewrite module is uncommented in the file...

This is httpd.conffile

这是httpd.conf文件

#
# This is the main Apache HTTP server configuration file. It contains the
# configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
# See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/> for detailed information.
# In particular, see
# <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/mod/directives.html>
# for a discussion of each configuration directive.
#
# Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
# what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure
# consult the online docs. You have been warned.
#
# Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
# of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
# server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do *not* begin
# with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/access_log"
# with ServerRoot set to "/usr/local/apache2" will be interpreted by the
# server as "/usr/local/apache2/logs/access_log", whereas "/logs/access_log"
# will be interpreted as '/logs/access_log'.
#
# NOTE: Where filenames are specified, you must use forward slashes
# instead of backslashes (e.g., "c:/apache" instead of "c:\apache").
# If a drive letter is omitted, the drive on which httpd.exe is located
# will be used by default. It is recommended that you always supply
# an explicit drive letter in absolute paths to avoid confusion.

#
# ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
# configuration, error, and log files are kept.
#
# Do not add a slash at the end of the directory path. If you point
# ServerRoot at a non-local disk, be sure to specify a local disk on the
# Mutex directive, if file-based mutexes are used. If you wish to share the
# same ServerRoot for multiple httpd daemons, you will need to change at
# least PidFile.
#
ServerRoot "C:/xampp/apache"

#
# Mutex: Allows you to set the mutex mechanism and mutex file directory
# for individual mutexes, or change the global defaults
#
# Uncomment and change the directory if mutexes are file-based and the default
# mutex file directory is not on a local disk or is not appropriate for some
# other reason.
#
# Mutex default:logs

#
# Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or
# ports, instead of the default. See also the <VirtualHost>
# directive.
#
# Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to
# prevent Apache from glomming onto all bound IP addresses.
#
#Listen 12.34.56.78:80
Listen 80

Looking at your httpd.conf, I think you problem is because you are using C:/xampp/htdocs/CMSas your document root but in the httpd.conffile the DocumentRootis defined as C:/xampp/htdocs

看看您的httpd.conf,我认为您的问题是因为您使用的C:/xampp/htdocs/CMS是文档根目录,但在httpd.conf文件DocumentRoot中定义为C:/xampp/htdocs

So if your .htaccess file is located in C:/xampp/htdocs/CMSwhich is not your actual document root, when you go to http://localhost/sometextnothing is happening because it's reading from C:/xampp/htdocsand there is probably just default files or nothing, so that's probably why you got the xampp home page.

So you should just remove this code altogether

<Directory "C:/xampp/htdocs/CMS">
    Options All
    AllowOverride All
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
</Directory>

And just update the existing DocumentRootand DirectoryDirectives already in the httpd.conf and add CMSdirectory as your document root. Like this below from part of your httpd.conf file. Then restart apache.

DocumentRoot "C:/xampp/htdocs/CMS"
<Directory "C:/xampp/htdocs/CMS">
    #
    # Possible values for the Options directive are "None", "All",
    # or any combination of:
    # Indexes Includes FollowSymLinks SymLinksifOwnerMatch ExecCGI MultiViews

Let me know if that helps.

Edit: Based on your comment, it's better if you use VirtualHosts if you want multiple sites. Here are a few links to get you started. It's very easy to do.

XAMPP probably has DirectoryIndex set to show the default xampp page (index.html?) in higher priority than index.php. either modify the .conf, change the value in .htaccess, or move/delete the welcome file
