Earlier today i was just doing some work on a maven project i just imported in and i was having some trouble with it. It wasn't getting a certain dependency.

I tried to give the scope to servlet-api-jar and jsp-api-jar. But it showing same error. In my console following error getting:

I got the same problem and resolved it with the proposed solution above.
Change your pom.xmlfile into:

first delete all the files present in ".m2/repository" folder. Then come to eclipse and update the project it will resolve the dependency. worked for me 100%.
